The Malone Foundation, Inc. is committed to providing support to men who have been affected by the criminal justice system. We aim to assist them in successfully reintegrating into the community. We offer various services, including housing, skills training, employment assistance, family restoration, education advancement, and counseling.

Incarceration Rates for Men in the United and Wisconsin
According to the NAACP, Black and Brown individuals make up a disproportionate 56% of the prison population in the US, despite representing only 32% of the general population. Black individuals are incarcerated at a rate of 5 times higher than White individuals, while Hispanic individuals are incarcerated at a rate of 3 times higher than White individuals.
In Wisconsin, Black and Brown individuals combined make up 60% of the state's population, despite only representing 14% of the state's overall population. These statistics highlight the systemic inequalities faced by people of color in the criminal justice system. Source: NAACP.

Urgent Need Support for Men Returning from Prison
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in 2018, the national rate for black men was 68.2% and for Hispanic men was 72.8%, while the release rate for white men was 80.4%. In Wisconsin, the release rate for black men was 56.5%, for Hispanic men was 68.2%, and for white men was 77.5%. These statistics include federal, pretrial, and post-conviction release rates. Men leaving incarceration face numerous challenges, including difficulty finding employment, housing, and accessing healthcare. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, within five years of release, about-quarters of released prisoners were rearrested. Additionally, a study by the National Institute of Justice found that two of the released prisoners were rearrested within three years. These statistics highlight the for support and resources for individuals reentering society after incarceration.

Recidivism Rates for Incarcerated
Recidivism is the tendency of a convicted criminal to re-offend. The Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that the national recidivism rate for released prisoners is approximately 68%. However, studies show that Black and Brown men, including those in federal pretrial and post-conviction, have a significantly higher recidivism rate. In fact, some studies suggest that it can be as as 80%.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections has reported that the recidivism rate for all released prisoners in Wisconsin is approximately 30%. However, studies have shown that the rate for Black and Brown men, including those in federal pretrial and post-conviction, is significantly higher, at around 50%. These statistics underscore the importance of implementing effective rehabilitation programs and providing support for formerly incarcerated individuals, especially those from marginalized communities, in order to reduce recidivism rates and promote successful reintegration into society.
